The idea of making an exchange was made up last year (in May 2007). We chose tolerance as the main theme which the whole project followed. Eurodesk, youth information net, was one of the sources which helped us to find the partners for the exchange. We were sent some contacts and web lines concerning youth exchanges. There were displayed descriptions of groups that were looking for partners for hosting or exchanging the others. We managed to find our first partner on it. Then we displayed our own description on the mentioned web sites which helped us to find the two partners more.
We changed the program many times during its preparation. We wanted to cooperate with children from children home, to visit other places than we did , to include a dance theatre and workshop with its members but at the time of our exchange it wasn´t possible. Instead of that we worked with people affected by Dawn syndrome performing their rehearsal, discussed with specialists about tolerance and things connected with it.
We divided the work into eight. Everybody from the preparation team had his role and his duties to do.
We think that our project introduced disabled people to the participants, got in touch with them. This was the impulse for them to look for more information about disabled people also in their home countries and spread the idea of anti-discrimination.
The participants were involved in activities with mentally disabled people. This was the first contact with them for some of our participants, so they realized what great people thay were.
The second disabled group were socially disadvantaged young men coming from children homes. This meeting made our all the participants think about the same problem in their countries and also find a solution for those situations.
In the discussion with the specialists the participants could hear about several modern ways of working with disabled people.
The participants communicated with each other in English which helped to improve their skill in speaking and writing in this foreign language. They also made new friends, learned a lot from each other, got to know 3 cultures and did something good for society.
