PROF. HANS-PETER RÖSER, INSTITUTE OF SPACE SYSTEMS, STUTTGART UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY


Prof. Hans-Peter Röser is Managing Director and Head of the Institute of Space Systems at the Stuttgart University and a Deputy Vice-President for Scientific Activities at the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). Throughout his career, he has worked as the Director of the DLR Institute of Space Sensor Technology and Planetary Exploration, and as C4-Professor at the Institute of Aerospace and at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Technical University of Berlin.

Prof. Röser is Member of the Board of Trustees, Section 1 "Basic Science"of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and a Liaison Officer of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation at the University of Stuttgart. He is the founder of the German SOFIA Institute at the University of Stuttgart and the German Centre for satellite communications eVin Backnang. In 2006 he established a Branch of the Institute of Space Systems / Deutsches SOFIA Institute at NASA Ames Research Center in California In 2008, prof. Röser initiated the space center in Baden-Württemberg at the University of Stuttgart.

His work abroad includes cooperation with the University of Essex in England on the Field of semiconductor and laser physics, several longer research stays at Japanese Universities (Osaka, Tohoku, Tokyo). Since 1979, prof. Röser has had more than 50 research stays in the U.S. primarily engaged in Dartmouth College, Hanover, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), NASA Ames Research Center in California, University of Hawaii, University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

He was visiting Professor of Electrical Engineering / University of Virginia Charlottesville, USA, at Dartmouth College in Hanover, USA, Professor at the Technical University of Berlin Faculty V Mechanical Engineering and Transport Systems” and Faculty II Mathematics and Science".

Prof. Hans-Peter Röser has more than 80 publications in refereed journals, over 100 publications in Conference Proceedings, more than 20 popular science publications and newspaper articles as well as 4 books and 4 patents.

Since 2002, Prof. Röser is Professor at the University of Stuttgart Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Geodesy Institute of Space Systems.
