The idea to make such an exchange came first into being after many discussions between the members of the Bulgarian and the Polish organizations. We shared the same ideas and took into account our primary interests such as sports, culture and present-day problems of the young people. We became partners in what turned to be a successful and very interesting youth exchange.
The idea of the project was to meet young people from different countries and traditions and share our different knowledge and perception about the world by doing sports, music, dances, art and culture. But our aims went even further - the project was intended at throwing light on major problems young people meet in their countries - problems such as unemployment and low payment. All those subjects were discussed in the context of the European Union and our common European future.
All Bulgarian participants took active part in its preparation of the project and gave many ideas about the forthcoming activities. During the meetings held, we discussed the best ways of achieving the goals of the project. We gathered much information about history, traditions and culture of the other three nations involved - Polish, Hungarian and German. During the panning of the project our organization stayed open for all young people who wanted to join us, as well as for different ideas and suggestions.
The main goals and expectations we had about this project were achieved. We learned a lot about each other’s culture and also became more positive, more tolerant and apprehensive about lifestyles, ideas and beliefs, which differ from our own. Every member broadened his personal knowledge and viewpoint, and we all departed from this experience more mature and aware of the world that surrounds us. The intercultural aspect of the project was successfully met.
