The idea of the project
The process of planning was coordinated by all the organizations involved. The groups of the countries made workshops and lectures concerning major environmental problems. They were organized very well during the camp. Very important was the verbal agreement between the organizations. All participants had the opportunity to express themselves. All of the participants had fun and were satisfied. The four cooperating countries expressed their interest to continue the researches on the topic of environmental protection and policy. Another part of the planning included the meetings in Hausen and Erfurt. A team of representatives of each organization visited the hostel and analyzed the different points of the program. The contacts established among the teams were very beneficial and productive. The planning of the activities was flawless. The guiding tours were interesting and
Planning of the project
Thuringer Okoherz (our German partner organization) has worked on some European projects before this one. In Germany the Thuringer Okoherz is well known and it tends to get more publicity with each new project developed. The work on international projects is a priority for the colleagues of the Thuringer Okoherz. A hard work is needed for the creation of such a youth camp.
The main idea of this camp was not only to give opportunity for having fun or relaxation but also to bring educational results. We had set clear objectives, so that the young people can learn a lot about Europe. The first aim was to establish the frontiers of the new European dimensions. The close contacts between the participants made it possible to create a really culturally-friendly environment. The lectures of Dr. Frank Augsten (manager of Thuringer Okoherz) analyzed the economic development in Thuringia. He discussed the similarities between the participant’s countries.
During the project 26 participants from 4 countries had to live together for 10 days. They had to work together, to solve problems. The local citizens of Hausen had to accept the international participants.
The purpose of the camp was to foster new friendships around Europe. The main objective was to learn more about the nature and the environment. This was very important because all the participants were very interested in discussing environmental problems. The wood workshop demonstrated the creativity of some of the participants. They learned to work with natural materials. The position of the hostel made it possible for the participants to go into the forest and to enjoy the nature much closely.
Another aspect of the program was the free time. The young people organized lots of sport activities and icebreaking games.
The main hope is to create a new permanent youth camp. All organizations involved had to analyze the youth camp outcomes and results.
Results achieved
One of the best results was the constant contact between the participants. New friendships were born. The knowledge of the environmental policy and law and the analysis of the contemporary European ecological matters brought new insides into the role of the young people for the preservation of the European nature.
