Project Information

During one week, all participants accommodated in the same place will learn the Cinema’s History Invention by the Lumière Brothers.  They will have to create sound for a silent film from the beginning of the XX century. Participants also have the choice to write a scenario in the manner of Charlie Chaplin In the evening a more contemporary movie of each country will be projected. The project also includes tours of Marseille.

Project Results

The idea of the project was to get to know more about the history of the cinema and the cinema invention by Lumiere Brothers. The participants had to watch and to work on the sonorisation of the movies without sound from the beginning of XX century. For this purpose young people from 5 countries ( Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France and Romania) met in Marseille, France. We spent one whole week together. We worked together, divided in 5 multinational teams who chose different Charlie Chaplin’s films. We also visited Marseille and one of the islands nearby. We were invited in the town-hall of one of the regions in Marseille and also in the local representation of the European commission. In the evening we watched popular movies from Charlie Chaplin in one of the oldest cinema theatres in Marseille.
